Wednesday Vintage Finds

I have been having major op shopping withdrawals lately and decided to head to a few of my favourite haunts as well as a few new ones. I definitely came home with some fantastic finds! I purchased most of these items all from different stores.

My favourite find would have to be my gorgeous 1960's Kriesler radio! I could not believe it when I found her... It was most definately love at first sight. She was very dirty and grubby, but with a bit of cleaning she has come up a dream. I have been wanting to purchase a "Blush" radio (reproduction retro look alike radio) for a while, but now I have my very own authentic retro gem.

Selling Online

I am so excited for 2012!! The last week has been very busy as I have been going through all of the things for our online shop in preparation to start selling. I have set up my little office which I will photograph all of my products, answer buyer questions and package all of my items to send to wonderful customers.

As I have been addicted to vintage since I was in high school I have always dreamed of one day selling my wares and spreading the joy that comes with vintage items. I understand that it's not for everyone, but it is something that I truly love.

I will be selling my items online through etsy. I have never purchased or sold anything through this website but I am looking forward to joining their community of sellers and who knows where all this might lead to? I will start of selling small items like handbags, belts, earrings, shoes, sunglasses. Once I get hang of selling these items and how etsy works, I will start to sell clothing, and boy do I have a lot of wonderful clothing pieces to sell. At the moment, I am photographing lots of items and will hopefully have these listed by the end of this week.

I thought I would share some photos of my office that I have set up. The desk and 2 bookcases are all from IKEA. The cute chair was built by my great grandfather and I am currently seeking a cute checkered cushion. The pretty painting is called the "weeping rose" and is by Tretchikoff. It was given to me by a colleague at work. It is such a stunning picture, I absolutely love it so much. I love the colours and I often find myself wondering about the meaning of it. My other items include a cute cath kidston tray which was a gift from my mum and the various nick nacks which I have placed on this tray are all thrifted finds. I particularly love the pin cushion which is made from a teacup. It is absolutely adorable. I recently picked up the peach coloured shell from a thrift store and purchased the eiffel tower book ends from target last year. I was given the magnetic white board for christmas and it is from Typo and I have had the cute cupcake and cake magnets for a while which now have the perfect new home. My macaroon tins are from spotlight.

Pink Flamingo LOVE

I was recently looking at Anna Spiro's stunning new online Spring Vignette http://www.absolutelybeautifulthings.com.au/  and fell head over heels in love with a gorgeous vintage pink flamingo. Off course by the time I visited the website it was sold, as were a lot of the gorgeous pieces which Anna hand picks. I tried to trace one down through etsy, eBay, gumtree but only found imposters! Loving the one that Anna had so much, I could not settle for something that just didn't quite resemble the one she was selling. To my absolute amazement, when it was my mums birthday we went to an op shop on the other side of town and what was starring me in the window? None other than the pink flamingo! My heart started to skip a beat as I could not believe I had found a needle in a hay stack. I was even more thrilled to read the little price tag stating $12.50!!!!

Mine is slightly different as it is not standing up, but for the price and compared to the others I had seen, I was a very happy camper! I am not sure how much Anna's was, but I can assure you it would be close to $100 if not more. It just goes to show you that with a bit of thrifter's luck and some dedication, you just never know what you might find out there in your local op shop.

For those who don't like thrifting, you just don't know what you're missing out on and the savings you can make in the process! I am not sure as to where I am going to put her (my flamingo) but I think it will be in my office.

The other beautiful piece that Anna had for sale is this stunning vintage pink and green jug or vase. She doesn't mention if it is a brand name, however I think it is Majolica. This beautiful item was another that was sold when I visited her website. As they say, first in best dressed.
